Home > About Us > competitions Our competitions Each year we attend the week 2 Finger Lakes Regional at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, NY. This year it is taking place on March 4-7 in the Gordon Field House. You can visit their site at: http://www.firstrochester.org/ In 2006 and 2008 we attended the Boston Regional at the Agganis Arena. Woodie Flowers is an annual visitor there. This year, the Boston regional is also taking place during week 2. You can visit their website at: http://www.bostonfirst.org/ In 2007 we visited the Philadelphia Regional at Drexel University. This year it is a week 4 regional taking place March 18-21. You can visit their website at: http://www.philadelphiafirst.org/ This year, besides the Finger Lakes Regional we will be attending the Championship in Atlanta, Georgia in the Georgia Dome. This is the international championship which all the teams from around the world aspire to go to. This year at Finger Lakes RegionalBlue Lightning attended the 2009 Finger Lakes Regional. Despite a poor winning record, the team's robot managed to rank 22nd out of the 49 teams in measured Offensive Power Rating. The team also received the Judges Award in recognition of an Engineering Club they started at local elementary school Brooks Hill. Their animation also came in second. Other teams gave Blue Lightning their own awards, such as an Animation Award from team 250, a Sportsmanship Award from team 191, and a Spirit Award from team 211. |
