The First Lego League is a nationwide competition that introduces middle school students to the constantly adapting industry of engineering. Tasked with finding new ways of accomplishing assigned objectives, students brainstorm and develop methods that inspire them to higher levels of innovative thinking.

This year’s FLL season involved many unique missions that the students were tasked to complete. Each was involved with in-depth problem solving, accomplishing tasks in both assembly and programming. The theme this year’s competition centered around was going green. Each mission was developed around industries apt at improving our planet through reducing harmful emissions and increasing environmental awareness.

Fairport FIRST's lego league is called Blue Sparks. The team consists of 10 middle school students.
