FIRST Tech Challenge 

The FIRST Tech Challenge is every bit as exciting and challenging as the FIRST Robotics Competition but it offers a less expensive kit of parts and registration fee. It is designed for high school students, as a good transition from FIRST Lego League Competitions to FIRST Robotics Competitions. Or, if the school wants to be involved in FIRST but does not have the funds to participate in FIRST Robotics Competitions, Tech Challenge is a way to avoid that obstacle. Some large schools also chose to split up their team and create a Tech team as well as a FIRST Robotics team. This makes management easier, but also gives more students the chance to get hands-on experience during the build season.
